All Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures That Amount to a Healthy Smile
Teeth are something that every single person will no doubt struggle with at some point in their life because they are simply not made to last. There are so many outside factors that can contribute to the health and look of your teeth like diet, smoking, and hygiene. All of these things can leave you with a number of problems which could include discoloured teeth, worn down teeth, misshapen teeth, or missing teeth. Some issues you can be born with like misaligned teeth, gaps in between teeth, your smile looking too narrow, or too much gum showing. All of these issues can easily be fixed by a good cosmetic dentist. There are plenty of procedures available all of which we will cover below. We have created a list of all the procedures a good cosmetic dentist should be able to perform and everything you need to know about each one.
1. Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is great for those of you out there who want their smile to be sparkly and white. Having discoloured teeth can really break down your self confidence and make you want to hide your smile. So what are your options? Well, you have at home whitening kits, or you can easily get them whitened at your dentist’s office. One treatment you can do at home includes whitening trays that are fitted to your teeth and whitening gel you can use every two weeks. In house teeth whitening can differ from dentist to dentist so ask to see what method your dentist uses.
2. Bonded Veneers
Bonded veneers are ideal for anyone who might be suffering from moderate stains, small gaps in between your teeth, or someone who has small of medium sized chips in their teeth. The best thing about this kind of veneer is that it can be done in one sitting and you will have a brand new smile in a matter or hours. It is done with a resin that adheres directly to your teeth, not only that but the quality of the resin has improved a lot over the last few years meaning that it will last you a long time.
3. Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are made from strips of ceramic which are designed to enhance the look of your teeth. It is a great choice for people who are suffering from more serious problems like misshaped or shorter front teeth, small gaps in between teeth, root canal replacements, chips, fractures, or severely discoloured teeth. This takes a little longer than the previous veneers as you will need to get examined, get a mold taken of your teeth which then needs to be sent off, and then another appointment to get the veneers fitted.
4. Crowns
Getting a crown on your tooth is a great choice for someone who has a large fracture, deep cracks, had a root canal, heavily misshapen tooth, or brittleness due to a filling. This is basically like a helmet and it works the same way meaning that it is placed on a single tooth in order to reinforce its strength. As well as helping your tooth stay strong, it can also be used to enhance the appearance of a tooth that might not be the same colour as the rest of your teeth. This usually takes about 2 appointments to complete.
5. Invisible Braces
Most of you already know about traditional braces so we’ve decided to not include them on this list. Invisible braces are something that you may not have heard about until now. It is a great alternative to traditional braces because they are not as bulky or visible. The dentist will put a small tooth coloured blob on your teeth which will dry, this is used to keep the retainers in place. They are clear and might be slightly uncomfortable, but the results are guaranteed in a really short amount of time.
