Bathroom Equipment Basics to Help You Plan the Ritzy Bath of Your Dreams

Despite the popular opinion, I think that the bathroom is actually where “all the magic happens”. It is the one place in your home where you can truly have some time for yourself. Whether you want to do the “Taxi Driver” scene in front of the mirror, read a newspaper or play a game on your phone while doing your business on the toilet, or sing opera in the shower, why not do it in a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing bathroom?

But, with a market flooded with all kinds of products with variable cost an quality, how do you choose the right bathroom equipment that will be both functional and have an aesthetic impact on the bathroom? It is definitely a challenging task, but it can be made much easier if you at least have a general idea of what you are looking for. So, here is a list of some of the things you need to consider when you are out shopping for new bathroom equipment.

  • First of all you need to know how big your budget is and how much you are willing to spend so you won’t end up with a luxurious bathroom and not have any money left for shampoo or toilet paper. Try to find the balance between good quality and affordable price.
  • Before you go shopping make a list of all the things you need. Have a look around your bathroom and check what equipment you want placed in it. Don’t buy stuff you are not going to use because you will end up with a crowded bathroom with a bunch of useless objects.
  • This brings me to some basic physics – space and matter. All matter takes up a certain amount of space, so yeah, consider how much space you have available and how much equipment you want to fit in there. Don’t go buying a bathtub that won’t even fit through the door.
  • Don’t be a slave to brands. If a brand is very popular, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is the best one out there. When you are buying bathroom equipment look into all the features of every item and not just the brand. You need to be sure that it suits all your needs and again, your budget as well.
  • Sort your priorities. You are aware that not all bathroom equipment is equally necessary. First buy all the essentials such as faucets, sinks, showers, drains, and so on. Later on you can get all the other accessories such as a soap dish, a towel hanger, a toothbrush holder or a plasma TV if you still got some money left.

Of course, just like any other investment, take your time, do a little research and think about what you really like and what will make you enjoy the time spent in your throne room.
