Stock on Flags

No game should be watched without flying the flag of the country you root for, in this case Ireland. Given the fact that you’ll be hosting a party, you should invest in different types of flags of Ireland ranging in size, purpose and type. That being said, you can shop from the larger versions of the flags of Ireland and fly them on the balcony or window while also hanging one on the wall behind the sofa.

To heat things up even more, you can also invest in several handwaves, one for each guest of your party. Since this golf-watching party is all about supporting your country, you can also invest in a set of toothpick flags that you can add to cupcakes, cheese, muffins, etc. Once the game starts and the national anthem begins, you should all stand up on your feet with one hand placed on your chest and with the other waving the flag in your hand.

This will only boost your adrenaline and make you hope for the best outcome. Regarding the Ireland flags, you should decide on which type you want to choose since Ireland has several flags to choose from. The official national flag of Ireland is green, white and orange but this Irish tricolour flag became official in 1937.

It was inspired by the French tricolour where the orange colour symbolises the protestants, the green symbolises the Catholics, and the white colour symbolises the hope for peace and unity, and this is the main reason why the white colour is in the middle. The second most commonly used flag you can invest in (even though not official) is the Ulster flag also known as the Red Hand of Ulster flag.

This was the official flag of the Government of Northern Ireland between 1924 and 1972 and was adopted as an unofficial flag of Northern Ireland in 1953. All this was done in honour of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. However, in 1972, this flag stopped being an ‘official’ flag when the parliament of Northern Ireland was abolished by the British government. Even so, this flag is still used officially for sports events and games.

Stock on Food and Drinks

You know the saying that food brings people together, right?! Well, a sporting event of this kind urges for the use of good food. In fact, on such events, food is the centrepiece which is why you should look for delicious food and snacks that will fuel guests and keep them well-fed.

Delicious appetisers are the first thing you should stock on, and the ideal examples of this are trays filled with cheese, meat, crackers, veggies and dips. You also shouldn’t forget about chicken wings, small burgers, ribs, sandwiches and pizza for the main event. People love the idea of eating and drinking when watching a game, so arranging different kinds of food is the right thing to do.

In case some of your guests are vegetarians and vegans, make sure to prepare a tray of fruit, veggies, crackers and vegan dips and salad dressings along with vegan cheese. Those of you who have some free time and want to play with food, you can always sort food by colour and arrange it in the form of the Ireland official flag. To make things more in the name of the game and country, you can also order paper plates and cups with the flag of Ireland on them.

Regarding the drinks, make sure there is lots of beer, wine and juice for the non-drinkers. You can also stock on some essentials for making the favourite cocktails for your guests (if you know their favourites of course) or just stock on things to make the most popular cocktails like margarita and cosmopolitan.

Don’t Forget to Root

No party will be a real party without rooting. In fact, this is just one step in boosting your adrenaline, so make sure to hype your guests by rooting and waving the flags. In between commercials, you can always hype the atmosphere even more by playing some favourite songs and even making cocktails for those who want.
